The Hutong Express

Greetings from Beijing….wish you were here!

Photo taken in the Hutong section of Beijing China in November 2011.

I adored Beijing’s hutongs, or old alleyways.  The hutongs represent the old China and the way the city used to be thousands of years ago.  Hutgongs are a little bit hard to find which was half the pleasure of seeing them.  We found this one hutong that was a little gem as it lead to restaurants, bars and shops.  There were rows and rows of drivers waiting for a wandering tourist to give them a ride or tour of the hutongs.  We never indulged in a ride but it was fun to watch them wheel by.
