Our visit to lovely, picturesque Zhou Zhuang, one of the oldest water villages in all of China. This post was written in response to the Weekly Photo Challenge: Inside. To see more entries, click here.
Today’s WordPress Photo Challenge topic is foreign so I thought I’d share a photo in which I was the one who was “foreign”. I had just climbed up to the top of the Great Wall of China through a relatively unknown back route and as soon as I stepped upon this mighty feat of engineering, I was swarmed by some native Chinese women who wanted to take their picture with me, their friendly blonde-haired, blue-eyed foreign friend. I say, “Why […]
I took this photo of a crab in a Chinese Water village where it is the local specialty. I’m feeling kind of crabby today. This is not the place to complain. But this photo fits my mood! The kids are sick and its been rough. But I’d rather be me than this crab for dinner! ha ha…..
Above photos taken in Beijing, China last November. My visit to the spectacular Forbidden City was a huge disappointment due to the intense, insane pollution. Not only was the view of the Forbidden City forbidden and wrong, what the smog is doing to the people of China and around the world is deeply disturbing. (Note: I’m not picking on China. I realize we are also highly to blame as are many other countries in this world). This post is in […]
Photo taken in Beijing, China. I had heard about the mysterious, hidden hutongs, or narrow alleyways, that wind like a serpentine throughout old Beijing. Some are very hard to find and once your inside, its like stepping back in time into an ancient hidden world. It is easy to get lost inside the hutongs as well. I love this shot into an old, small hutong which shows how many people still live in China.

After completely half of the Annapurna Trek in Nepal, we came upon lovely, picturesque Pokhara, perhaps the most beautiful towns in all of Nepal. There I saw these brightly colored boats in Pokhara Lake with the nightly Himalayas reflecting off the waters. It took my breath away. “Capture the Colours”: Blue I […]

This week’s WordPress photo challenge is movement. Trying to capture any sort of movement on film has always proved difficult for me. Usually the photos I attempt to take during movement end up so bad that I delete them. However, these three photos during my recent trip to China captured the true essence of movement in the amazingly overpopulated city of Beijing. The first is taken inside a moving taxi cab as we entered “ghost street” and the second two […]
Every building of importance in China bears a lion to protect its inhabitants. Generally the male lion is found at the east and the female lion is found at the west. Here is the lioness with her cub beneath her foot. Photo taken inside the Forbidden Palace, Beijing, China.
