I took these photos last August at my parents home in the White Mountains of Arizona. Perhaps all the talk about the summer season of wildfires have got me thinking back about these photos and this trip. I didn’t retouch anything on the photos as I thought they were beautiful as they are, natural, powerful and serene.
Greetings from Arizona….wish you were here! Photo taken last summer in Show Low, Arizona during the summer monsoon season. I took this photo last summer of the storm clouds and imported it into snapseed using the dramatic effect to make the clouds even more threatening. I am enjoying this new app!
Greetings from Mount Baldy…wish you were here! Photo taken last week on a short hike along trailhead to Mount Baldy located in the White Mountains of northeastern Arizona. We were hiking through the towering pines and gigantic Douglas firs in complete solitude except for the birds when we came upon this incredible decaying tree. For some reason, the light came through the thick forest hitting the heart and soul of the inside of the dead tree and the magenta red and burnt […]
Greetings from Arizona…wish you were here! Photo taken yesterday evening after two hours of monsoon storms. I will never tire of taking pictures of the incredible sunrises, sunsets and cloud formations over the pine trees during the Arizona monsoon. Here may be my last photo from this trip as we are leaving tomorrow. I will miss these incredible displays of nature!
Greetings from Torreon…wish you were here! Photo taken mid afternoon in Show Low, Torreon, Arizona. I’ve been here for only five days now and am already obsessed. Not exactly with the place but with the clouds. I have never seen such wild, intense, creative and spectacular clouds as I’ve seen here in the White Mountains of Arizona. These are special clouds as they are the monsoon clouds that bring much needed rain and water to the mountains, pines, wildlife and […]
Greetings from the trail to Mount Baldy…wish you were here! Photo above taken this morning during a hike along the trail to Mount Baldy in the White Mountains of Arizona. The drive along the White Mountains Scenic Byway towards the sacred Mount Baldy, the highest point in this area reaching 11,400 feet, is quite spectacular. The drive leads you through the largest Ponderosa Pine Grove in the world with some of these amazing trees aging over 700 years old. There […]
Greetings from the White Mountains…wish you were here! Photo taken at 6 am this morning of the sunrise in Show Low, Arizona. After fifteen years of visiting Tucson, it was time to explore another wilder part of Arizona: The White Mountains. Located three hours northeast of Phoenix, the White Mountains contain one of the largest collections of Ponderosa pine trees in the state. The elevation climbs rapidly and ranges between 5,000 to 11,400 feet which is the location of Mount […]
