I’ve always love mountains and the deep blue color of water. Here on top of Table Mountain in Cape Town, I got a spectacular view of where the ocean meets the sky. To see more entries to this week’s challenge, click here.
Photo taken along the tiny tarmac inside Tanda Tula Private Reserve, South Africa. Patiently, lazily he sat and watched. He wasn’t bothered nor amused. Just relaxing as we sat only a jump away inside an open-air land rover. Following him at night was the highlight of the safari. His golden mane glistened in the moonlight. Unfortunately none of my photos of him under the midnight moon turned out. The image only remains inside my memory.
The theme of this week’s photo challenge is close. Here is my entry for close… Photo taken in Tanda Tula Private Reserve, South Africa 2005. To see other entries, click here.

Greetings from South Africa…wish you were here! Photo of the King Protea, South Africa’s national flower, taken in November 2005. The first time I saw a King Protea I was amazed at its size and beauty. Some are as large as a plate! I instantly fell in love with these amazing flowers which dot the hills and gardens of South Africa. I was in for a treat when I visited my parents in Arizona and found King Proteas for sale […]
Greetings from South Africa…wish you were here! Photo above taken on safari in Tanda Tula Private Game Reserve located near Kruger National Park, South Africa. I will never forget my first safari. It was something I had always dreamed of doing someday and then magically, after having my first child and going through a rough patch of time, I somehow ended up on a safari a year later in South Africa with my Dad. The first morning we rose early, […]
Greetings from South Africa…wish you were here! Photo taken in South Africa’s wine region located just outside the Cape Town. It is a cold winter day and as I was digging through my photos from trips from the past, I found this one taken during a day long wine tour of Cape Town’s nearby vineyards. I chose the photo for its greenery as well as memory of a good time. I love wine and there is no better way than […]
Greetings from South Africa…wish you were here! Photo taken in Cape Town, South Africa in November 2005. I’ve been thinking a lot about South Africa lately. Perhaps it is because I follow a few South African bloggers (you know who you are!) that I adore. Or else it is because this was the first big trip I took after becoming a mother. I was hesitant to start a family. I was 32 and married for four years yet didn’t want […]
Greetings from the Pafuri Triangle…wish you were here! The Pafuri Triangle is in the northernmost corner of South Africa’s Kruger National Park — wedged between the borders of Zimbabwe and Mozambique. The Pafuri Triangle covers just 1% of the Kruger Park’s surface area, but comprises 70% of the park’s biodiversity. A sanctuary for herds of elephant, elusive leopards, and thousand-year-old baobab trees, Pafuri is one of the most beautiful spots in Africa. In 1969, the native Makuleke people were forcibly […]
