I found this door intriguing for some reason. What lay behind it in ancient times? The door belonged to an old kingdom near Rabat, Morocco. I wonder what secrets it holds.

Photo of Rabat’s famous Kashbah in the heart of the city. I love blue. Blue is my absolute favorite color. The color of the sky on a brilliant September fall day. The color of my husband’s eyes. The color of water. The color of tranquility. For that reason, I took this photo in Rabat of the gorgeous blue hues of the kashbah. What a spectacular place!

Greetings from Rabat….wish you were here! Photo taken from my hotel terrace in Rabat, Morocco April 2011. For some reason, I’m thinking about this very moment right now. I had just finished breakfast on the rooftop terrace and was ready to start my first day in Morocco. What an amazing place!

Greetings from Rabat…wish you were here! Photo taken from hotel rooftop in April 2011 during a volunteer trip to Rabat, Morocco. I was initially hesitant to go to Morocco all by myself to volunteer. I had always wanted to go to Morocco and was close to visiting many times. Yet the moment never seemed to be right and it never happened. Several years before, I even went all the way to the tip of Spain and practically saw Morocco longingly […]

Greetings from Morocco…wish you were here! Photo taken in April 2010 in Rabat, Morocco. I stayed at a Riad or ancient Moroccan palace turned into a hotel, in the heart of Rabat’s souq. Finding the Riad was half the fun as I wandered somewhat aimlessly through narrow, serpentine alleyways like the one pictured above. I felt like I had been transported back in time, to a world long ago. I was fascinated by the life and culture of Morocco and […]

Greetings from Rabat….wish you were here! Photo taken in Rabat’s famous souq in April 2011. Figs, dates and anything else you want is available fresh at the souq in Rabat. I loved the barrels and barrels of them everywhere. Yet I didn’t love the flies! Must be that Western part of me but I’m sure the food was fine. I’m not really a fig lover but they were fun to photograph. Now the enormous barrels of olives truly got my […]

Greetings from Morocco…wish you were here! Photo taken in Rabat, Morocco near the souq and my hotel in April 2011. I love this photo. It illustrates how I fell in love with Morocco during my week long visit to do volunteer work back in April 2011. Parts of the city such as this one felt like you were back hundreds of years in time, in a far away, different place. I love how Morocco is a place of contrast: The […]

Greetings from Rabat…wish you were here! Photo taken of my foot getting henna applied in Rabat, Morocco and the end result on my hand in Paris, France in April 2011. “When in Rome” is one of my favorite sayings. It is my motto and mentality when traveling. You’ve got to try everything in order to truly experience the culture. While in Morocco, I spent days at the souq, went to the traditional bathhouse and on my last day received henna. […]
