This week’s photo challenge is “Saturated”. I can’t think of any place that is more saturated in color than the Arizona dessert at sunset. The entire sky lights up in a magical display of brilliant colors and each night is a different surprise. Here are a few of my favorites. To see more entries, click here.

Today’s Weekly Photo Challenge is unusual which is perfect for what we found on this morning’s walk in the desert. A rare sighting of a desert turtle who spend 95% of their time hidden in a burrow to escape the high Arizona heat. Pretty amazing! To see more entries to this weeks photo challenge click here.

Last year we spent Christmas in lovely Tucson, Arizona where my parents reside. I adore Tucson. The mountains, the desert, and the sunsets. It is a place of peace and tranquility. I love this photo taken from my parents home as the sun set across the desert sky.

I took these photos last August at my parents home in the White Mountains of Arizona. Perhaps all the talk about the summer season of wildfires have got me thinking back about these photos and this trip. I didn’t retouch anything on the photos as I thought they were beautiful as they are, natural, powerful and serene.

Greetings from Tucson…wish you were here! Photo taken in my parents backyard in Tucson, Arizona. There is nothing I like more than a gorgeous, colorful sunset. Arizona has many. Many in so many incredible hues of pinks, reds, purples, oranges and blues. I’ve been fortunate to have seen many over the last twenty years or so that my parents have lived there. This one was last Christmas when we were all together celebrating the holidays.

For this week’s Photo Challenge, the topic “Sun” proved to be quite daunting for a beginner photographer like myself. Yes, I have plenty of beautiful photos of the spectacular sunsets I’ve seen in my life, especially during my travels. Yet the key to this photo challenge was not doing a sunset but using the sun itself as the subject. I couldn’t think of a better place to use as my subject than beautiful, sunny Tucson, Arizona where my parents […]

Greetings from Arizona….wish you were here! Photo taken last summer in Show Low, Arizona during the summer monsoon season. I took this photo last summer of the storm clouds and imported it into snapseed using the dramatic effect to make the clouds even more threatening. I am enjoying this new app!
