Himalayan village

I took this photo upon entering a beautiful remote village in Nepal, hiking along the Annapurna trek. I love how prayer flags are so symbolic of this part of the world and welcomed you into each village. Under the prayer flags is the bouncy bridge we had to cross in order to enter the town.

Handwoven scarves

After trekking for weeks in the Himalayas we finally came down to a small village where I found this young woman hunched over her loom making handwoven wool scarves. I bought a beautiful wool scarf for US$2 and felt sad. What a way to make a living.

The long hike down

Greeting from Nepal…wish you were here! Photo taken after the Thorung-La pass, Annapurna Trek, Nepal. Here is a continuation of yesterday’s postcard. This is the long hike down following the mule trains after the pass. Yes, it was exhausting yet exhilarating all the same. The landscape here is so diverse. It is near the remote Mustang area of Nepal and much more barren and brown. I felt like I couldn’t have been further away from civilization than here.
