In 2001, a mere two months after that fateful day, my father and I went to Peru to trek the Inca Trail. It was my first real trek and I’ve been addicted to trekking the high mountains ever since. Here are some of my favorite photos from that amazing journey. One I hope to do someday again with my children.

We flew to Peru and then hiked the historic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. It was a grueling three and a half days but the spectacular views of the Andes made it worth the while.
