Yesterday I was running around the lake in shorts, a record for Thanksgiving Day here in Minnesota. The weather changed and light fluffy snow began to fall, bringing joy and delight into my children’s eyes. Above is a sprinkling of snow on my lavender bush.
Spectacular fall has finally arrived in full force in Minneapolis. I had to stop and take these photos during my daily run around Lake Harriet. It was so utterly breathtaking that it made me smile and melted all my worries away. This post is in response to Where’s my Backpack’s travel theme: Foliage. To see more entries, click here.
I took this photo yesterday around Lake Harriet and when I looked at the photo it seemed as if the flower was bursting out of the screen! I fell in love with this photo!

I’ll miss my summer sunsets over the lake but look forward to the magical fall colors that September and October will surely bring.

The slow unraveling of each spindling leaf as a fern slowly grows and comes to life, will never cease to inspire me. This post is part of The Weekly Photo Challenge: Growth. I first saw them when I was running last spring. The mysteriously beautiful Pasque flowers that bloom around Easter each spring in Minnesota. Luckily I had my camera in hand and snapped the first picture shown of the gorgeous purple fuzzy flower coming to life after a long, cold Minnesota winter. I later found out the name of the flower thanks to a fellow blogger and discovered more of them at the Trial Gardens near Lake Harriet in Southwest Minneapolis. […]
