Greetings from Beijing…wish you were here! Photo above taken at night of the Forbidden City, Beijing China, November 2011. I took this picture the first night I saw it. I could not believe how intimidating and foreboding the Forbidden City looked even at night. There is a tiny gourmet restaurant called The Courtyard that sits below the walls of the moat which surrounds the Forbidden City. Greetings from Shanghai…wish you were here! Photo taken in Shanghai, China in early November 2011. The Chinese have some of the most creative methods of transportation (whether it be people or goods) that I’ve ever seen. I was fascinated by how much the Chinese could place on the back of a bike. I saw everything from produce to presents and loved capturing the shops on wheels.
Greetings from Beijing…wish you were here! Photo taken in central Beijing in November 2011. At night, like most cities, Beijing comes to life. The once gray, smoggy capital of China becomes a vibrant city full of life. The buildings are full of color and light and the street vendors are out selling the evening dinner. It is a place to marvel for the contrast between old and new, day and night, is so great.
Greetings from Shanghai…wish you were here! View taken out of 17th floor of hotel room on the Bund in Shanghai. I walked into my hotel room, opened the shades and this is what I saw. A million gorgeous lights bringing this amazing, cosmopolitan city to life! Stay tuned…more posts on my trip to Shanghai coming up soon on http://www.thirdeyemom.com
Greetings from Beijing…wish you were here! Photo above taken in Beijing in October. There is something magical and unexpected about Beijing’s numerous Hutongs (or narrow alleyways) that criss-cross the heart and soul of the city. I found myself peering inside the entrance and going back in time. Amazing. I couldn’t get enough of them.
Greetings from Beijing…wish you were here! Photo taken in late October in Beijing. We were wondering about Beijing trying to find the infamous Hutongs or hidden alleyways and I took this delightful picture. I love how the leaves are so crisp and green while the ancient building are set in smog. It gives them a mystical look. For more on Beijing and my recent China trip, visit http://www.thirdeyemom.com
