Growth

January 7, 2018 by thirdeyemom

“Set your goals high, and don’t stop till you get there”. –  Bo Jackson By far, spending seven days living, breathing, eating, sleeping and climbing this mighty volcano represented one of the biggest moments of personal growth in my life. Seeing the incredible beauty of the world from up so high made it all worth the effort and the sore feet. Now for 2018, I need to figure out my next adventure. What will it be? This post was inspired […]

A Hike in Malibu Creek State Park

January 3, 2018 by thirdeyemom

“The art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on”. – Henry Havelock Ellis We had a few hours to spare before heading to the airport in LA and decided to go on a family hike. Only ten minutes from our hotel lies the Malibu Creek State Park, 8,000 acres of rugged, almost virgin land in the heart of the Santa Monica Mountains. I could hardly believe our fortunate at finding such a beautiful, peaceful […]

Ascending the Andes

December 15, 2017 by thirdeyemom

“After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb”. –  Nelson Mandela   This photo was captured in November 2014 ascending a peak in the Condoriri Valley of Bolivia. After many many months of neglecting this blog, I decided to start it up again in honor of the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge: Ascend.

The clouds

April 6, 2016 by thirdeyemom

Its been awhile since I’ve written in here. It is not that I don’t have anything to say it is that time has escaped me. Today, I’m back to give you a treat. The clouds above the Condoriri Valley of the High Andes in Bolivia. A place that I will never forget.

Gratitude

December 15, 2015 by thirdeyemom

“Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair”. – Kahil Gibran I wish I could be there right now, breathing in the fresh pure air with no distraction. Sometimes I just need to close my eyes and reflect on all the splendors of life. To express gratitude for all that has been given and all that has been received.  It is a precious life. Thanks Alison for the inspiration.

Anticipation

November 12, 2015 by thirdeyemom

“If you want to conquer fear, don’t sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy”.  – Dale Carnegie I reflected on this quote numerous times before in my mind. It is amazing how much fear can control us and fear of failure can lead us to give up without even trying. Perhaps for me, reaching the top of Kilimanjaro wasn’t exactly something I feared because deep down inside I knew I could do it. Yet honestly there […]

Lift your face to the sky

November 10, 2015 by thirdeyemom

“Life your face to the sunshine and you cannot see any shadows” – Helen Keller These photos remind me of the beauty and light of the amazing world we live in. Taken in the Condoriri Valley last year in Bolivia, the photos fill me with joy and peace. I hope to get back to the mountains sometime soon. There are many mountains awaiting me to climb.

Reflecting is good for the soul... I tried to capture the Alps in the water but only got the floating clouds. Reminded me of this lovely quote: “Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.” - Rabindranath Tagore
As I climbed up the many stone steps to the Monastery at Petra and beyond, I was called by the Bedouin sound of a flute. I climbed on past the tourists to the place at the end of the trail following the sign to the world’s best view when I ended up here. I met my Bedouin friend, enjoyed a mint tea overlooking the stunning Rift Valley. I had the entire view to myself and felt like I had gone on a pilgrimage where I found peace and sanctuary here at the end of the road. Oh what a purely magical place Jordan is. Like no place on earth. #beintrepid #petra #petrajordania #explorejordan
No words can describe how I felt today seeing the divine beauty of Petra. Built in 400 BC, hand carved out of rock, this place is absolutely surreal. Can hardly wait to rise at dawn to go back and see more. #visitpetra #visitjordan #beintrepid
Have you ever taken a ride on a camel before? While it is an ancient tradition that the Arabs have been participating in for centuries, it isn’t the most normal thing to do. First, getting on the camel before he stands up is easy. Trying to stay atop when he does actually stand is a bit strange. Then you are so high up in the sky. As the camel starts to walk you jolt back and forth and back and forth trying to balance yourself and stay on. After about ten minutes the uncomfortableness sets in as it is much harder than riding a horse. Yet to be so high in the sky in the desert is truly spectacular. An experience I will never forget. ✨✨✨✨ #Beintrepid #Wadirum #Jordan #discoverjordan #visitjordan
Morning just after sunrise at our camp at Wadi Rum. So much beauty and peace. The expansive beauty of this place is hard to capture or put into words. #Beintrepid #jordan #discoverjordan #wadirum #visitjordan
