Greetings from Minneapolis…wish you were here!
Photo taken yesterday at the Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis, MN.
I’m stealing my thunder for my other blog, thirdeyemom (a post is coming today on this very same thing!) but I couldn’t help myself from sharing this photo on thirdeyeworld.
The Minnehaha Creek winds in and out of Minneapolis and surrounding neighborhoods to its dramatic sweep over the falls where it flows to its terminus into the Mississippi River. It was a gorgeous winter day here yesterday in Minneapolis and unseasonably warm. Almost 40 which is balmy here in January (if it is above 20 we are lucky). So my daughter and I took advantage of the nice weather and went snowshoeing by the Minnehaha Falls.
It is one of our favorite places to bike to in the summer. But we have never seen it in the winter. I had heard it was lovely and I was not disappointed. I only wished I had been there in the morning as the sun was rising over the falls and lighting up the ice. This was mid afternoon and it was hard to get a good shot with the sun behind it. I waited until the sun was behind and cloud and took it.
Remarkable photo!
Thanks! I bet it would cool with the sun rising over it!
Incredible! It would be even more incredible at sunrise for sure!
