Forbidden City at night

Greetings from Beijing…wish you were here!

Photo above taken at night of the Forbidden City, Beijing China, November 2011.

I took this picture the first night I saw it.  I could not believe how intimidating and foreboding the Forbidden City looked even at night.  There is a tiny gourmet restaurant called The Courtyard that sits below the walls of the moat which surrounds the Forbidden City.  We ate dinner there on our last night, looking up upon the lights of such an amazing piece of Chinese architecture and splendor.  The Forbidden City will always remind me of Beijing and China’s dynastic influence over centuries of people.  Perhaps a bit of the emperor still remains today.
