Decaying tree

Greetings from Mount Baldy…wish you were here!

Photo taken last week on a short hike along trailhead to Mount Baldy located in the White Mountains of northeastern Arizona.

We were hiking through the towering pines and gigantic Douglas firs in complete solitude except for the birds when we came upon this incredible decaying tree. For some reason, the light came through the thick forest hitting the heart and soul of the inside of the dead tree and the magenta red and burnt orange colors captured my eye. I had to take a picture and it turned out so lovely. Nature will never cease to amaze and inspire me.
