Flying a heli over the Great Barrier Reef

Greetings from Australia…wish you were here!

Photo above taken from a helicopter ride over the Great Barrier Reef in December 2003.

Nothing on earth beats a visit above and below the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.  During our day trip from Cairns, I not only did my first dive ever in the phenomenally, colorful and alive reef, I also opted to take a helicopter ride above the reef for a bird’s-eye view below.

We flew in search of sharks which we found one thousands of feet below and followed until it disappeared beneath the turquoise waters of the ocean.  I dearly hope the reef withstands the effects of climate change and global warming because it is one of the most incredible places I have ever seen.  Truly magical and breaming with colors and life.
