Bienvenue à Cassis…..c’est dommage que vous n’êtes pas ici!
Photo above of Les Calanques de Cassis, a short distance from Marseille, France where I lived during the summer of 1994.
The gorgeous, hidden Calanques (steep-walled limestone inlets) of Cassis are a hidden treasure found by taking a short boat trip from the lovely Mediterranean town of Cassis. A friend and I were doing a summer internship in Marseille and decided to take a Saturday to explore this incredibly beautiful place.
We arrived by boat and were dropped off for the afternoon at a perfect, remote white sand beach set within the rugged Calanques and indulged in hours of sunbathing and enjoying the refreshing, aquamarine Mediterranean sea. After we tired of the beach, we hiked the Calanques where I took this picture. Oh to be young and free again!
