Greetings from Jökulsárlón…wish you were here!

Photo taken in August 2008 during a week-long trip to Iceland.

Nothing can prepare the unexpected visitor to their first sight of the awe-inspiring Jökulsárlón.  My heart raced in excitement and anticipation as I climbed up the dirty brown hill that was hiding the view of the lake and glacier below.  I had never seen pictures of Jökulsárlón.  All I knew was that glacial lagoon of Jökulsárlón was supposed to be a photographer’s paradise.    I had heard about the brilliant diamond blue icebergs that floated gracefully across the lagoon.

But nothing prepared me for my first sight of this slice of heaven.  The magical sculptured icebergs bewitched my soul.  They glistened like diamonds in the brilliant sun.
