Greetings from Hampton, Virginia…wish you were here!
Photo above taken before 9/11 at the Langley-Eustis Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia.
Built in 1916 the Langley Air Force Base has the mission and ability for fast global deployment and air superiority to help protect the United States and her allies around the world, in a flash.
I had the opportunity of getting up close and personal with a F-16 thanks to my brother-in-law, a rock-star pilot (think back to “Top Gun”) who is a member of the Air National Guard and actually was called up into the air immediately following the attacks of the first planes on 9/11.
Fortunately, I got to get my picture taken quickly in front of this amazing plane before the military personnel hollered to move back and not take photos. Again, this never would have been possible after 9/11 yet I still enjoy looking at this silly picture and imagining what it would be like to be flying this baby high into the sky!

As soon as I saw the photo I thought “Top Gun”!!! You were lucky to get this shot – cool pic!
What a great photo! Two of my favorite museums are the Intrepid (which has a Blackbird) and the Pima in Tucson, which also has a Blackbird. Planes are the coolest…
Thanks! Where is the intrepid museum? my parents actually live in Tucson so we have been to the Pima Air and Space many times and LOVE it! The kids especially like it. Will have to check out the Inrepid museum somday.
Found your pic in the WP culture tags, and said, “Hey, I know her!” Stopping by to say I love the pic!
