A hike in San Carlos de Bariloche

Greetings from Argentina….wish you were here!

Photo taken in November 2008 in San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina.

A visit to the Patagonian Lakes District in Argentina is a nature lover’s gift.  The land is vast, grand and surrounded by the white-capped Andes and stunning, brilliant blue lakes.  The Patagonian Lakes District  encompasses both Argentina and Chile and is half-way between the capitals, Buenos Aires and Santiago, and the terminus of the Andes in rugged, raw, southern Patagonia.

San Carlos de Bariloche offers a variety of fabulous outdoor activities year-round.  In the summer, you can hike, fish for Patagonian trout, golf, take a boat through the lakes region or just enjoy the gorgeous surroundings. In the winter, you can ski at the nearby ski hill, one of the best in South America.  If you aren’t ready to truly “rough it” and head south to the real Patagonia, then San Carlos de Bariloche is definitely worth a stop.  It’s true pristine beauty brings peace of mind and fills the soul with inspiration.
