This week’s Photo Challenge is a wonderful subject: Blue. Blue happens to be my most favorite color. It is the color of the sea, the water, the sky and the eyes of my husband and children. I picked these two pictures below taken in the Milford Sound, South Island, New Zealand back in November 2002. I like the contrast of different hues of blues. Hope you enjoy!
Greetings from the Milford Sound….wish you were here! Photo taken in New Zealand’s Milford Sound in November 2004. When we arrived hours later at the Milford Sound, on the South Island of New Zealand, we were pleasantly greeted by this spectacular waterfall. I love how the crashing water causes a mystical splash over the waters of the Milford Sound. It was a place of pure mystique and nothing could have been more fitting than to see this dazzling waterfall before […]
Greetings from New Zealand’s fjord land…wish you were here! Photo taken on a cruise in the Milford Sound, South Island of New Zealand. November 2002. I’m saving the best for last….our cruise through the Milford Sound provided some of the most spectacular scenery we’d seen in New Zealand. Coming soon…a full post on thirdeyemom of our overnight cruise into utter pure New Zealand.
Greetings from Queenstown…wish you were here! Photo taken from Coronet Peak, launching off point for our tandem hang-gliding ride in Queenstown, New Zealand 2002. This is the remarkable view we had of Queenstown and the remarkable Remarkables mountain range, before running and jumping off the edge of the mountain and setting flight attached to a hang-glider. Queenstown is one of the most spectacular places on earth and there are loads of adrenaline-pumping activities for what ever your heart desires. To […]
Greetings from Middle Earth…wish you were here! Photo taken while headed south from Christchurch to Queenstown New Zealand. If this picture does not take you directly into the set of the Lord of the Rings trilogy (save for the fact that I am not a famous actress!) then I don’t know what else will! The South Island of New Zealand rocks! Unfortunately it is much better in print. It is almost ten years old, a panoramic photo that has […]
Greetings from the South Island of New Zealand…wish you were here! Photo taken of Mount Cook in the distance in November 2003 during a two-week driving trip in New Zealand. Like many places with huge snow-capped mountains, I fell in love with the charm and beauty of New Zealand’s South Island. We flew to Christchurch and rented a car, heading directly south towards the picturesque, adventure capital Queenstown. Along the way, I had to fit hard at my car sickness […]
Greetings from New Zealand…wish you were here! Photo above taken in 2002 trip to New Zealand while hiking the Routeburn Trail. I could talk about New Zealand forever, it is that unbelievable of a place. My husband and I spent two weeks traveling around the lonely, gorgeous roads of the North and South Island with a highlight of our trip being our day hike along the famous Routeburn Trail. The lovely New Zealand ferns seemed to be spiraling up into […]
Greetings from the Milford Sound…wish you were here! Photo taken at the Milford Sound in the South Island of New Zealand in November 2002. Traveling to New Zealand’s South Island was a magical experience. Most of the time, we drove through the gorgeous, remote scenary feeling like we were in right smack in the set of Middle Earth from the infamous Lord of the Rings. The further south you headed, the more beautiful and remote the land became. I especially […]
Greetings from New Zealand….wish you were here! This picture was taken in November 2002 en route to The Routeburn track in the South Island of New Zealand. Imagine yourself in a place so ungodly beautiful that you feel like you are smack in the middle of “Middle Earth”. After spending two weeks in New Zealand, I was in love. The beauty of the North and South Islands are like no place on earth. I was particularly enraptured by the haunted surroundings […]
Greetings from Queenstown, New Zealand….wish you were here! Photo taken in November 2001 in Queenstown, New Zealand. I made him go first. I had to. I was so nervous, scared out of my mind and anxious about actually going through with this ride that I thought I’d make my loving, wonderful husband of one year take the first jump off the mountain. All I could think of was how the booking agent told us that the other day there had […]
