Enjoying the view in Puerto Vallarta
Greetings from Puerto Vallarta…..wish you were here!
Photo taken in January 2009 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Puerto Vallarta was just what the doctor ordered for my soul in the midst of a brutally, cold Minnesota winter. It was the perfect escape. Sunshine, warmth, beaches, jungle, ocean and plenty of excellent restaurants and nightlife that will keep you moving until dawn.
Unlike other tourist destinations in Mexico, there is nothing “touristy” about Puerto Vallarta and it doesn’t seem tainted by the gang violence that has spread throughout Mexico like a wildfire. “Vallarta” as locals like to call her, is a quaint, lovely town that sits proudly over the ocean and has enough beaches and eco-adventures and activities to keep the active heart occupied. The lovely white sand beaches are a tempting alternative and if you are lucky, you can see a humpback whale breaching in the distance.
The locals are friendly and the restaurants offer a foodie-lovers paradise. Vallarta offers the perfect winter escape when one wants to get away from it all yet still enjoy the splendors of life.
